Terms of sale

These terms apply when you buy a vend on scp261.org from Artur Markus, 4332 Stein, Switzerland (“we”). Contact: info@scp261.org.

What you buy

A vend is a one-off digital service: the machine writes and illustrates a fictional item that has not existed before, using AI models, and shows it to you. Each vend produces exactly one item. You choose the price in advance:

• $1.00 standard: Common 70%, Uncommon 22%, Rare 6.5%, Legendary 1.5%.
• $3.00 boosted: Common 50%, Uncommon 28%, Rare 17%, Legendary 5%.

Rarity changes how unusual the item is, nothing else. Which item you get is not known in advance; you are not promised any particular item or rarity.

Items have no monetary value

Items are fictional writing and pictures. They cannot be exchanged for money, credit or further vends, are not tokens, and we do not run or support any market for them. Nothing on this site is an investment or a prize.

Payment

Prices are in US dollars, including any taxes that apply. Payment is processed by Stripe. When you pay, the amount is first only reserved on your card. It is charged when your item has been made. If the machine fails to make it, the reservation is released and you are not charged; your bank may take a few days to show the release.

Delivery, and your right of withdrawal

Your item is made and shown immediately after payment, and a copy is emailed to you when we have your address. Before paying, you ask us to start right away and confirm that you lose any right of withdrawal once the item has been delivered. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, this is the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content, which ends with full delivery in that case.

Refunds

If you were charged but did not receive an item, or the item page does not work, write to info@scp261.org within 30 days and we will fix it or refund you in full. We do not refund an item because you would have liked a different one.

Licence and the public archive

Every item is published in the public archive and mirrored on GitHub, under CC BY-SA 3.0, like the SCP Wiki article it derives from. Your name and email are never published with it. You may use your item under that licence, as may anyone else; buying it does not give you exclusive rights.

Content

Items are fiction in the style of the SCP Foundation and can be strange or unsettling. They are generated automatically and are not reviewed before you see them. If an item is offensive or infringes someone’s rights, tell us and we will remove it from the archive.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence. Otherwise our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the vend in question, as far as the law allows.

Law and disputes

Swiss law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in still apply, and you may bring a claim there.
